Khabib: “Ring girls are the most useless people in martial arts”

At his tournament, Khabib Nurmagomedov will not use any female models as Ring Girls Announcers.

Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has launched a new league, Eagle FC, after leaving the UFC. Eagle FC combines UFC with television broadcasting and serves as a training ground for talented boxers from the Caucasus and the Middle East at the same time.

However, it is worth noting that the Eagle FC award does not feature a Ring Girl model. When asked why so, Khabib Nurmagomedov claimed that the appearance of Ring Girls made no difference because of the area's culture and religion.

Stating that he did not want to “offend anyone,” Nurmagomedov added “I think they’re the most useless people in martial arts. What is their function? I have a question: You can show that it’s the second round on the screen.

Of course, Khabib Nurmagomedov clarified that his decision is only "personal" because it stems from the former champion's point of view. Khabib recalled watching the UFC Fight Night event in Moscow with his father, saying:

Nurmagomedov claimed “For example, I sit with my father [at a fight]. Every person has his own preferences — the culture and values. I come to fight night [and] sit with my father. These [ring card girls] are passing by and showing people that it is the second round. But no one looks at the [round number].

He also said that in that situation, he felt uneasy in front of his father. I have no offense with the Ring Girls or those who insist on seeing naked women at every match. If they want to do it, go ahead and do it, but don't do it in front of him. That's just his opinion.
